Reflection 22 Jan 07

You and I like Israel

Isn't it true that we often treat God as a vending machine? Putting a little more effort to pray during crisis, being a little more sincere and having stronger desire to seek Him when the 'rubble meets the road'? Hoping and expecting to get the 'can' of prayer answered right?

Once that moment of trial or hardship floats away and sunshine pierce through the dark clouds, we are back to our self-sufficient, complacent and prideful drive.

During trials, what makes us macro focus on ourselves and blinded to see the bigger picture that God has for us?

We fight, we quarrel, play politics and even lie to get what we want and to falsely create the sense of security and an imaginary fortress to protect us from what we think others will try to harm us with.

We are so focused on the macro and have forgotten that God hold all things and know all things.
Why are we like Israel complaining about food and drink during exile and yet forgotten the Lord saying in PS 130:7 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.

The lacking of Faith... we are unable to trust, to have confidence and unwilling to see the disagreement God has for us. Thus, refusing to trust in God is the renouncement of Christ the authority in us and our faith in Him. For Christians who have been in this relationship with God for years can divorce the only love which is Christ in your heart because of an affair (trials) that breach trust in God. Not the other way round because God is always faithful.

We are wounded sojourners on earth. The lack of faith in God for healing and comfort make us just like any other pre-believers that will pass our insecurity to everyone.

Lev 26:12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.

This is my prayer to all God's people who are hurting regardless the number of days to years. That we may not deconstruct the faith we once have in God, but to fan the flame and allow the Holy Spirit to quicken your heart with the Word (Christ) and be encourage that God is walking with us. He will still be our God and we are His people no matter what trials we are going through.

God has given us the promise of salvation and redemption if we have place our faith in His mighty hand. He is God, let Him be Himself that is faithful even though we are faithless..
